The Perfect Song

What is your favourite song? You know that track that just syncs with whatever mood you may be feeling. The lyrics speak to you. It defies time and place. Always taking you to a place of serenity,  or it just gets you up; transcending you to another plane, a place of pure perfect joy.

How great the pain of searing loss,
The Father turns His face away
As wounds which mar the chosen One,
Bring many sons to glory

Fortunately, God weirdly designed our brains/hearts to fall in love with different sorts of people, colours, animals, movies …. and music. Because, if we all had the same perfect song, then a whole lot of musicians would be out of business. So, my perfect song may not be yours, but it’s a hymn sung by my favourite musician, Owl City.

It was my sin that held Him there
Until it was accomplished
His dying breath has brought me life
I know that it is finished

I had no idea it was originally a hymn (till I googled it); but, the first time I heard it, it felt like my heart was in sync with The Creator’s Perfect Love and Sacrifice. The rendition is so beautiful, that tears always roll down my eyes when I listen to it. And Adam’s high pitched voice + his trademark synthesizer are a bonus perfection.

Weird thing is, I sometimes passively listen to songs, not really taking in the lyrics, just nodding to the tune; but with Owl City’s How Deep The Father’s Love For Us, I listen … Every. Single. Time!

I will not boast in anything
No gifts, no power, no wisdom
But I will boast in Jesus Christ
His death and resurrection

Yes, my perfect song is How Deep The Father’s Love For Us by Owl City, what’s yours?

Thank you for visiting and enjoy the awesomeness that this song brings.

God bless.

PS: This song on repeat has already inspired a future post.
